Plainfield Transfer Station
The Plainfield Environmental Resource Center (PERC) is the City-owned and PMUA-operated transfer station used to facilitate the proper disposal of all solid, recyclable, electronic, bulky and vegetative wastes collected from local residents, Plainfield Department of Public Works, private businesses and other municipalities.

Safety Guidelines
- Customers are required to wear their own hard hats and safety vests while utilizing the Transfer Station.
- All visitors must wear a face mask at ALL PMUA facilities.
Residents & Property Owners
- Plainfield residents and property owners only
- ID & proof of residency or property ownership required
- Cash, check, Visa and Mastercard credit/debit cards accepted
- Hard Hat required
Contractors & Other Visitors
- DEP sticker required
- Vehicle weight not to exceed 9,000 lbs. or 16,000 lbs. with trailer

What’s Accepted at the PERC Transfer Station?
Electronics (E-Waste) is accepted for disposal at the PERC transfer station, free of charge to Plainfield residents and property owners only. Commercial customers are not permitted to dispose of E-Waste at the transfer station.

DROP-OFF GUIDELINES
- Maximum 2 electronic items per day, per person allowed for drop-off.
- PMUA reserves the right to limit E-Waste drop-off once capacity is reached.
Electronic waste must be recycled properly, and is not accepted in your solid or bulky waste collections.
If you are not a Plainfield resident or property owner, or you have E-Waste that is not accepted at the PERC/Transfer Station, please check the Union County recycling page or use the free Recycle Coach app for additional disposal locations and events.

Motor oil is accepted for disposal at no charge to residential non-commercial customers only. Two gallons per resident maximum per visit.
No automotive parts accepted.
Vegetative waste includes leaves, branches, and brush and is accepted at the PERC Transfer Station. (Grass accepted seasonally only, call 908-226-2518 for details).

PERC offers free Saturday leaf drop-off seasonally for residents. Please call 908-226-2518 for dates and program guidelines.
The Plainfield Department of Public Works (DPW) collects vegetative waste from the citizens of Plainfield. For curbside vegetative waste collection info and schedules, call the Plainfield DPW at (908) 753-3427.
Tires: Remove rims from tires- there is a limit of four tires per household.
Car tires will be billed at $3.12 per tire up to four tires per drop-off.
A drop-off having more than four tires, with a total maximum limit of 15 tires, will be billed at $312 per ton.
All truck tires will be billed at $312 per ton.
