4-15-11 -  Almost 4 tons of paper was recycled- PMUA Worked Jointly with Union County, Sponsoring a Mobile Paper Shredder Event at Cedar Brook Park.

PLAINFIELD- On April 15th many people participated by coming to the park and shredding their confidential documents at no charge. Residents attending the event were hoping to safeguard against identity theft while ridding themselves of unwanted documents. At the end of the day, the shredded paper was taken to a facility to be recycled.

Members of the Plainfield Department of Public Works, Union County Parks Department and PMUA employees were on hand to assist those who needed help transporting their papers from their cars to the Shred Mobile. Residents were able to view the process as their documents were dumped into a container, placed onto a conveyor belt and put through the shredder.

If you missed this event call Union County Recycling at 908-654-9889 or visit online at working/recycle to see when the next Mobile Paper Shredding Event will take place.
